First Annual Spring Exhibition for the David Award THEME: Activist Art: Art+Message+Solution Prize: The David Award - The “Oscar” of the arts. A $1000 award + a 12” statue of Michelangelo’s sculpture Exhibition Timeframe: Works will be displayed from April 12 - 17th, 2010; Opening Reception, Monday, April 12th, 2010 from 6 - 9 pm Entry Deadline: March 15th, 2010 Selections will be announced on April 1st. Perry Babb, Director, Global Strategic Alliance Please submit the following to: Activist Art: Art+Message+Solution Submission Committee Sozo Institute of the Arts 256 East Beaver Avenue State College, PA 16801 Up to 10 jpgs of the work on cd - CD and images must be clearly marked with Artwork Title and Artist name. File name format: lastname_firstname_artworktitle.jpg A 1-page max description and explanation of the vision and impact of the artwork. A self-addressed stamped envelope A $15 non-refundable submission fee. Cash or check only (checks made out to “Sozo Institute of the Arts”) Selected works must be delivered at the artist’s expense to The Sozo Institute of the Arts between April 6th & April 10th or they will not be displayed. Prompt picking up of art works on April 17th is also expected. A storage fee of $50 / day will accrue for each day after the 17th that an artwork is left on site. After a one-month period the work will be discarded. About the David Award King David was a mighty man, a king, and an artist. His songs brought healing to Saul. Michelangelo’s vision, inspiration and skill are legendary. The David Award acknowledges those artists utilizing their vision, talent and skill to bring creative solutions. |
